Our Exhibits
The exhibits in the Children’s Museum will reflect life in, around, and under the water. The selection of uniquely designed, hands-on, interpretive exhibits will connect where we have been to where we want to go! Children of all ages, religions and ethnicity are encouraged to explore, discover and create through hands-on learning.
The floor plan is divided into two distinct sections, allowing flexibility for a variety of themed areas including traveling and permanent exhibits, open galleries, two creativity classrooms, a gift shop, and administrative offices.

Imagine an eighteenth century Spanish galleon ship where children can take the helm of the ship, scale the rigging to the top of the crow’s nest and search for treasure. This enchanting exhibit will offer exhilarating physical and intellectual challenges to all aspiring scalawags. Plans include a working galley, captain’s quarters, complete with a dock where kids can harvest, crate and hoist pineapples to the ship to be carried to destinations far and away.

Come through the doors of our Florida Cracker House and enter the world of “Your House, My House,” an exploration of the homes of children from around Florida and throughout the world. Our geography, climate, culture and traditions are reflected in the homes that we live in. Guests will be introduced to a variety of children from around the globe and learn about their homes. From a traditional Florida Cracker House to a Stilt House in the Florida Keys, from a Mongolian Yurt to an Inuit Igloo, kids will get a glimpse into things that are both similar and different about the houses that people live in. After discovering different home types, kids will get to design and build their own “Dream Home” at our Design Center and Construction Zone.
-
Imagine an interactive river/water play area that will teach visitors about the ebb and flow of our Indian River. Discover the wonders of the Earth’s most abundant resource through and interactive system of pulleys, pumps, wheels and pipes that demonstrate how we manipulate the power of water.
-
Imagine a child-sized city, where children can stroll through an interactive community, inviting the child to take on an adult role in everyday life. Activities include shopping for groceries, racing to a fire, donning a doctor’s outfit and saving lives, investing and engaging in financial transactions and nursing a sick pet back to health in our critter clinic.
-
Imagine an entire building that teaches kids and adults alike about the important ways to reduce, recycle and reuse, with the completion of the first sustainable “green” museum in the area.
These are only a few examples of exhibit possibilities for The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast. Individual and corporate investors are encouraged to share their vision to provide creative input for final exhibit designs. Please call for a list of exhibits opening in 2008.
